William C. Pauley papers, 1913-1979.

The collection consists of the papers of William C. Pauley from 1905 to 1973. The papers include materials documenting both his personal and professional life. The personal files include correspondence, materials relating to his education at Perdue University, honorary certificates, family photographs, and newspaper clippings. The professional office files span the course of his career as a landscape architect and include correspondence, descriptive inventories of landscape projects, plans, photographs, scrapbooks, and office diaries documenting work he performed in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee from 1925-1965. His work in connection with the Joel Hurt Memorial Park in downtown Atlanta, the Centennial Fountain at Lake Eola, Orlando, Florida, and the Grand Hotel at Point Clear, Alabama is well represented

William Crooks Pauley, landscape architect, was born 6 July 1893 in Lafayette, Indiana, and died in 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was educated at Purdue University (B.S., 1916) where he majored in agriculture with a specialty in horticulture and the University of Massachusetts (M.L.A., 1918); served in the U.S. Army (1918-1919); and married Frances Emma Freeborn on 24 May 1930.
